Information about Outpatient Alcohol & Drug Treatment
The National Institute of Drug Abuse defines drug treatment as a way to help addicted individuals stop compulsive drug seeking and use. Treatment can occur in a variety of settings, take many different forms, and last for different lengths of time. There are different levels of treatment which may consist but are not limited to edication and prevention, outpatient and intensive outpatient, as well as sort term and long term residential.
To allow you and your counselor to know the best treatment to fit your needs an evaluation will need to be completed. An evaluation will assess not only your alcohol and drug use it also explores other areas in your life that may have been affected by your use that you may not even been aware of. In many cases it is discovered that there could be a lack of peer and family support, economic and educational hardships, as well as, negative legal consequences.
The evaluation process assists in identifying areas where an individual may be struggling to be successful. In identifying these areas we are able to build a treatment plan. The treatment plan will help the client identify their goals they want to accomplish while in treatment. Treatment plans focus on areas in an individuals life where things began to break down and assist an individual in utilizing the newly developed skills to not only promote sobriety but also to allow the client and their family and oppurtunity to heal.
Substance Abuse treatment often times includes individual and group counseling. Depending on the recommendations on the evaluation treatment may also include couples and family counseling. Whether or not it those programs are completed we encourage as much family support as necessary to help the client be successful.
